04/20/2012 Break In April Winds...

Better this than what everyone experienced last year in April... With a break in the winds yesterday Capt. Steve, Capt. Zane and myself ventured out early. We were able to get on the trout early. In our first drift we boated 7 solid trout with 2 or 3 escaping the net. Some of our guide associates(www.galvestonfishingteam.com) were on the water with clients. So, we contacted them and Capt. Alan decided to join us. They were on fish but decided to join us for an opportunity to catch some larger fish - and we moved on. But, before those boats arrived we were able to boat 10 more trout on the second drift. We tried numerous other areas but the West winds had the water really off color. It was a great day as far as I am concerned... fun and fellowship with some fantastic friends. Even talked one into helping me replace the wood runners on my trailer. Thanks Capt. Steve. Capt. Zane did volunteer but it wasn't that big of a job. An unexpected pleasure of the day was a call from a fraternity brother (J. Breland) who was in the area and joined us for a cold beer and a small site seeing tour of San Leon fishing community. Upon leaving J. Breland ran into some hail and had to seek shelter. He called me and I found shelter in a local car wash. There, I was able to passed the word along to others... Whenever you can please practice CPR - Catch, Photo, and Release... however, on this trip all the Capt's had orders from home to replenish the freezer - thus the photo shoot.

03/23/2012 Wade Fishing Trip

Capt. Steve Pereyra and myself were able to get out for a day of wade fishing. We worked numerous spots throughout the day in both Trinity and East Bay. However this was a day we had been planning for some time - get out and relax - do a little preliminary work in locating fish. We found some really nice 27 inch Redfish and in numerous spots. The only consistent thing we found this day was that the better spots were in salty water. Of course, all this will change a bit by the time the Redfish Series comes around. All fish were caught on artificial lures. Alot of getting in and out of the my 24 ft. Haynie today but it was worth it... seems like we found brothers and sisters... very consistent sizes... All fish were released - so, remember... when you can - practice CPR... Catch, Photo, and Release.
