Nice to see all those fish! Looks like the fish are still biting. Thanks for the reports Capt. Mike!

End of Year Trip

Fished the last days of 2011 with John W. and Leo M. Seeing a break in the weather John W. drove in from LA. and Leo M. flew in from FL. Day one was a search and fine mission for me resulting in 5 reds from 24 to 26 inch.  Day two John and Leo joined me and we boated some nice reds to 25 and a couple trout to 19. Day three was interesting to say the least. Due to the time of the bite we left the dock at 9:00 AM as planned.  However, due to the heavy fog we didn't see the sky or land mass till 2:30 PM. At one point we were only 30 yards from a beacon and couldn't see it.

The Hummingbird 1197c along with the Navionics Card made what would have been a Stay At Home Day... into a very memorable day for the three of us. Thanks to the Minn-Kota 101 we were able to cover a lot of water quietly resulting in a half dozen reds from 25 to 27 inches.  Largest hitting the scale at 12 lbs. according to John W. who caught it. Leo and I agreed to the fact that we thought the boat scale was off somewhat... short period later my red pushed 11lbs so I changed my obinion and had to agree with John W.

Now Leo M. may not have caught as big a red as we, but he's now a bait casting (reel) expert... just keep the extra rods out of his throwing direction.
